Along with the Ruins ‘Benchmark’ demo that we’re finalizing (have a few optimizations that we’re hoping to squeeze in), there are a few other goodies that will be released sooner than later to give everyone a sneak peak behind the scenes at what we’ve been working on for C:SO.
As some of you may be aware of, GameCore 2.0.5 introduced 2 new platforms for game distribution, the Mac OS and what we have dubbed ‘Web 3D’. While the Mac version is cool and all, we feel that the Web 3D platform has the potential to truly revolutionize how games are created and distributed.
With this in mind, I have been developing what I’m currently calling the ‘Content Browser’ for Combat : Spec Ops. I’ll probably come up with a cooler name at some point, but the basic idea is a web-based 3d viewer to allow everyone to not only get a sneak peak at the game, but also get live access to the content and a few of the features that are going to be available as well.
The Content Browser will let you preview and play with every weapon, vehicle and character within the game, all from the Web! A few of the features that the full game will include will be available in advance as a part of the Web 3D component of the game, including character creation, training areas and more!
You will be able to not only customize your characters in the game, but also tweak your Unit’s equipment loadout, test out the weapons on the firing range and test-drive all of the vehicles that the game will feature!
The first phase of the Content Browser will be available very soon — and will allow you to check out all of the weapons that I have integrated into the game (ie that are currently playable), with additional weapons to come. The firing range will let you check out the handling and behavior of each of the weapons and there will also be an integrated previewer that will let you check out stats on each weapon, view details on their handling, weight, ammunition and more!
Hopefully everyone else thinks this is pretty cool as well ;}

Sounds cool.
One minor point — the L85A1 assault rifle was taken out of service over 10 years ago. The current version is the L85A2. It looks identical so you don’t have to change the model
